FAQs

When are Round 1 MBA application deadlines for 2026-2027?

Most top U.S. business schools set Round 1 deadlines between September 8 and October 7, 2026. Harvard, Wharton, and Stanford GSB all fall in the first two weeks of September 2026.

Which MBA round should I apply in?

Apply in the earliest round your application is genuinely ready and competitive for. Round 1 typically has the highest acceptance rates at the most selective schools, but a stronger Round 2 application beats a rushed Round 1 one.

Round 1 vs. Round 2 vs. Round 3 Apply in this MBA application round

Do all business schools use the same application rounds?

No. Most U.S. schools use 3-4 rounds, some European schools (like HEC Paris and Oxford Saïd) use up to 5 rounds, and a few schools like IE Business School accept applications on a rolling basis year-round.

What’s the difference between Early Action and Round 1?

Early Action (used by Duke Fuqua and UVA Darden, for example) is a separate, earlier deadline that often comes with a binding or semi-binding commitment or an earlier decision date, distinct from the standard Round 1 timeline.

Is it harder to get in during later rounds?

Later rounds can be more competitive per seat since fewer spots remain, but a well-prepared Round 2 or Round 3 application is generally stronger than a weak Round 1 one – schools evaluate quality within each round, not against round number.

Where can I find each school’s essay prompts for this cycle?

This article lists essay prompts for 45+ top MBA programs for the 2026-2027 cycle, organized by school, right below the deadlines tables above.
